The Flowers of Evil - Paperback

by Henry Frichet (Introduction by), Charles Baudelaire (Author)

Published on June 25, 1857, and reissued in different versions in 1861, 1866, and 1868, this collection is one of the major works of modern poetry. Its approximately 150 pieces, marked by a new aesthetic in which the poetic art juxtaposes an often raw—or even trivial—reality with the most ineffable beauty, would exert a considerable influence on later poets as eminent as Paul Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud, and Stéphane Mallarmé.
